Biography

Rod Bourke has been NSW DPI Bee Biosecurity Officer since 2017. During that time he has seen a lot of the good, the bad and the ugly side of beekeeping. A big part of his role is to educate and train beekeepers to improve their own bee biosecurity and understand, adopt and to routinely follow the Australian Honey Bee Industry Biosecurity Code of Practice. Through Tocal College he regularly trains beekeepers to manage their bee pests and diseases, prepare hives for pollination activities and for the Bee Emergency Response Team (BERT).
