Biography

Karen is a biologist and is fascinated by the interactions between plants and pollinators. Karen’s passion for bees started back in 2012 during her bachelor’s degree. Karen volunteered for a research project in Brazil to explore the diet of honey bees in an area of Brazilian savannah. That project grew Karen’s interest/fascination with bees, and since then, she has been working with different aspects of pollination ecology. In 2019 Karen moved to Australia, where she is now a PhD candidate at the University of New England. Karen’s main interests are understanding the diverse effects of large crops on native vegetation, as well as the behaviour and efficiency of pollinators within these crops
