Biography
Jody Gerdts is the principle researcher and educator for Bee Scientifics and PhD candidate at La Trobe University. She is a fourth generation beekeeper originally hailing from the United States. Since moving to Australia in 2013, Jody has been an active participant in the Australian honey bee industry. Foremost, she has been studying hygienic behaviour in Australian honey bee stocks and assisting with stock selection.
Currently, Jody is working on understanding chalkbrood infection in Australia, which includes a nation-wide genotyping effort and honing in appropriate selection methods to improve chalkbrood resistance in Australian honey bee stocks.
